Legend of Zelda: OoT Shield Pillow

Description

I am so excited with how this pillow turned out!!

I had in my mindset that I needed to make something LoZ oriented, but I didn't want to do something that I've seen over and over again. Inspiration struck when I found a picture of all the different Hylian Shields that have been in the games over the years. I knew immediately that I had to try and make one of them. I settled on the design from Ocarina of Time for a few reasons, but mainly because it had a nice balanace of grey, yellow and red designs on the front of the shield.

It was quite the task to put all the pieces together for not just one, but FOUR of these awesome pillows. I drafted the pattern myself for this. The blue background is actually a seperate piece of fleece that sits beneath the outer gray trim. All of the inner designs of the shield are appliqued to give it a nice finish (but seriously, I spent a whole day just appliqueing the inner designs, not to mention the all around the inner edges of the shield T.T ). Unfortunately, due to time constraints and my sheer exhaustion with making these, I did not put any straps on the back for slipping it on and using it as a real shield (which I don't recommend anyway).

The pillow measures about 17'' x 18''. I will have four of these available at my Artist Alley table( that I'm sharing with ~Atheryne and ~Ashlena ) at Naka-Kon 2012.

This pillow can also be commissioned, so if you are approved for a slot when I start taking commissions, you just need to link ( <- lol pun) me to this page and I will know which item you commissioning.

Aaaa! It looks so soft :D
I love sewing with fleece, though it can be a bit of a pain at times!
